About
Alejandra Calvo (b. 1992) is a multimedia artist based in Denver, Colorado, whose work encompasses abstract painting, portrait photography, and immersive installations. Her work is driven by a deep curiosity for human emotions and their connection to our surroundings. By searching for beauty in the ordinary, in the rough edges of life, she hopes to help her audience rediscover their awe for nature and humanity.
Alejandra holds a BA in Communication Studies and Psychology and a Master’s in Teaching Math and Special Education, and she is progressing towards a BA in Fine Arts. She is the Program Director at PlatteForum, an urban art and activism nonprofit, where she develops programs and curricula in collaboration with artists, organizations and young people. Her main goal is to bring more resources, access and experiences to under-served communities, and to give the youth an artistic outlet and a platform to be heard.

My artistic practice is grounded in abstraction, delving into the intersections of sound, emotion, and the human body’s capacity to hold and transform experiences. I explore how our physical selves retain the imprints of sound and trauma, shaped by my own partial deafness and my fascination with anatomy. My work translates the weight of emotional experiences into tangible forms, revealing patterns between the body and nature.
